TeenFest 2k14

TeenFest(ival) 2K14, the 10-year anniversary celebration, was a huge hit!
The contestants were amazing, the judges were plugged in, the audience was hyped, and DJ Travis Gales kept the music rockin’ while the audience danced like they were on an old episode of Soul Train. Big ups to Aycock Middle School Marching Pride of Excellence Drum line and Dance Team (DDT) for opening our 10-year anniversary celebration with drums, cymbals, twirling batons, flags, high steps and flips.
The 2014 winners were: 1st place – The Generals (step team); 2nd – William Manneh (spoken word artist); 3rd – Candice Kelly (spoken word artist); 4th – Njava Silomba (dancer). Other contestants included Shelby Henson (singer/guitarist), Martika Brooks (spoken word), The Greats Live to Change (rap), and Sonnata Pembroke (floetry).

Love Jones Girlz  kicked off the concert portion dancing with choreographed moves like New Edition and harmonies like The Supremes, gaining new fans along the way. Celebrity judges Full Force brought the audience to its feet performing renditions from their own music catalogs and works from other artists they’ve worked with. Trina Braxton thrilled the audience when she joined Full Force onstage to perform the final song of the event, “Feel Good, Look Good, God Good,”  from their new “With Help From Our Friends” CD to be released later this year. Aycock DDT also returned to the stage for this grand finale.
