TeenFest Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works to develop and nurture teens to become immediate peer health educators and leaders in their natural environments, specifically on the topics of substance abuse prevention and violence reduction. We encourage teens to use their own creative voices to promote safe and drug-free communities. Our main initiatives are:
TeenFest(ival) - annual, free, public health education event that features workshops for teens, adults and elementary age students; a talent showcase; resource area and more. The workshops focus on topics relevant to the TeenFest theme -- substance abuse prevention and violence reduction. The talent showcase continues the event's messaging through featured original acts that have an anti-substance or anti-violence theme. Youth ages 14-19 compete for $1,750 in prize money. TeenFest is held in Spring of each year (since 2005).
TeenFest Teen Partners - Teens affiliated with TeenFest partner agencies and who help plan and implement various projects. They volunteer at TeenFest(ival), contribute to the TeenFest Newsletter, participate in TeenFest TV, and volunteer in the community.
TeenFest TV - Features video performances of TeenFest winners and TeenFest Performance Troupe members, as well as video vignettes of teens and adult experts openly and honestly discussing topics relevant to teen issues and behaviors. The vignettes offer practical suggestions for teens on how to meet challenges related to substance abuse and violence. Click the "TF TV" button below to see the video clips.
TeenFest Radio - Features original music created by TeenFest winners and TeenFest Performance Troupe members. Music featured on TeenFest Radio does not contain derogatory or inflammatory language. Some selections have an anti-drug or anti-violence theme. Click the "TF Radio" button below and enjoy the music!
TeenFest Performance Troupe (TFPT) - TeenFest winners and alumni perform their original acts throughout North Carolina and nearby states, using their own creative voices to help spread the drug-free and violence prevention messages. Use the Contact page to inquire about booking the TeenFest Performance Troupe.
